Paul Scholes, a Manchester United legend, has identified who he thinks is the team’s worst-ever addition.
This summer, Ineos will be looking to build on the solid start to the Manchester United revamp and hope to avoid the mistakes experienced in the transfer market in the years following Sir Alex Ferguson.
A number of high-profile additions have failed after Ferguson left in 2013, including Radamel Falcao, Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria, and the most recent £85 million acquisition of Antony.
The former Manchester United player did, however, reveal that there was one new signing that he could not believe was a player at Old Trafford.
Paul Scholes, along with Jamie Carragher and David Ornstein, appeared on the YouTube channel The Overlap in a transfer special. Scholes feels that Mark Bosnich is Manchester United’s worst-ever acquisition.
When asked who he thought was the worst player to ever sign for Old Trafford, the former Premier League winner mentioned former goalie Mark Bosnich.
“It’s always going to be tough to replace Peter Schmeichel, so let me go back to the goalkeepers.
“There were a few of us. Mark Bosnich and [Massimo] Taibi sprang to mind.
“Mark Bosnich was a decent goalie for Villa, in my opinion. He was really unprofessional when he came to us. To be honest, it was absurd. During practice, you typically have fifteen to twenty shots. Three shots in, and he’s exhausted. “Oh no, let another person in.”
“I had no idea he was incapable of kicking a football.” It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. In our season-opening away match against Everton, none of us saw that he was unable to cross the halfway line.
It was a wonderful day with no breeze. However, judging by the size 14s on his feet, it looks like he was constantly kicking the ground! Letdown.
