Man Utd lost badly to Liverpool 3-0 at home on Sunday, but Erik ten Hag is still supported by the club’s leaders, who say he is their man even though they’re having a bad run of results.
Erik ten Hag will have time to improve Manchester United’s season, even though they lost badly to Liverpool.
United lost their second straight Premier League game, this time 3-0 at home to their biggest foes, who kept their perfect start to the season. With only three games played, United is in 14th place in the Premier League after that loss. Ten Hag is under a lot of heat already.
But United’s new leaders have decided to stick with the Dutch manager for now. They have said they will do this even if the team keeps losing. Even with that promise, Ten Hag is still the choice to be the first Premier League manager fired this season. Former England coach Gareth Southgate is one of the candidates to take his place.
United used a clause in Ten Hag’s contract to extend his contract until 2026. They did this after spending the summer meeting and evaluating possible substitutes. Even though United is looking for possible replacements, Omar Berrada, the club’s new CEO, said that Ten Hag, who is 54 years old, still has the full support of the club’s leaders. Before United’s loss to Liverpool, Berrada and Dan Ashworth, the club’s new sports director, talked. This loss has led many to call for Ten Hag to be fired. “As for the contract, that was a choice that was made before both of our competitors,” Berrada said.
“But I already said that we’re happy with that choice.” No changes were made to this sentence as it is already clear that Erik has our full support. We’re going to keep working closely with him to help him get the best work from his team.
Berrada was asked if the support would still be there after a string of bad results. He replied, “Do we still believe in?” Erik? Of course. There is no doubt in our minds that Erik is the best teacher for us.People asked Ashworth and Berrada if they had any say in the choice to keep Ten Hag. Ashworth replied, “I didn’t start until July 1, so I had no say at all.” The only thing I can say again is that I remember saying that I loved working with Erik for eight weeks.
“I see it as my job to help him in any way I can, whether it’s operationally, with hiring, medically, psychologically, or with the flow of the training ground.” The only reason for this is to take as much of that off of him as possible so he can focus on exercise and the game plan to help Manchester United win.
