Marcus Rashford’s exclusion from the Premier League match against Crystal Palace has been called into question by Jamie Redknapp, who has wondered whether an incident that occurred outside of football played a role in his decision.
Jamie Redknapp is of the opinion that Erik ten Hag has become “frustrated” with Marcus Rashford and has questioned whether an incident involving the forward has resulted in the head coach’s most recent decision to remove him.
Ten Hag stated that the decision to suspend Rashford for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening was not a difficult one.
However, Redknapp, in an interview with Sky Sports, believes that it is imprudent for managers to publicly penalize players for their lifestyle. After an unsanctioned visit to a Belfast nightclub last season, Rashford was suspended. However, he has been in excellent form in his most recent appearances, scoring in the past two games.
Redknapp stated, “It appears that something has gone awry.” “I am unaware of the specifics.” However, it is not advisable to remove a player who has scored two goals in midweek and against Southampton.
“I would be hesitant to declare his return; however, he is exhibiting characteristics of the Rashford who was present two years ago.” It appears that an event occurred this week; however, I am unaware of the manager’s frustration. It is uncommon for a manager to single out players for their lifestyle.
“Sir Alex Ferguson would never have done it, whereas Ten Hag has done it on a few occasions.” It is not always advantageous for the participants.
Last season, Rashford encountered difficulties with his performance and was consequently excluded from Gareth Southgate’s roster for the European Championships in Germany.
Additionally, Redknapp stated, “Marcus has been experiencing an issue.” I am unaware of his lifestyle, but the manager has evidently suggested that it is not in accordance with the appropriate standards.
“Now, this individual is a competitor; however, it is impossible to incorporate diesel into a Ferrari engine.” It is impossible. Manchester United is a club that is subject to intense scrutiny, necessitating that players maintain a high level of performance at all times.
“His talent is undeniable; however, it is impossible to maintain that level of professionalism when the manager disparages you.” In the present day, that is not permissible for a player.
“Not when you are interacting with certain foreign players who enter the country and conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with their lifestyle.”
“So there’s obviously something that’s happened in Ten Hag’s defence, but for Marcus Rashford to have that labelled against him it’s not ideal for him either.”
