Finally, Erik ten Hag discusses Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United.
United Manchester After their lengthy rivalry, manager Erik ten Hag finally spoke out on Jadon Sancho’s return to the Manchester United first squad last week. He called the 24-year-old a “good player” and said “we have drawn the line.”

Due to a disagreement with Ten Hag, Sancho has not taken part in senior squad training or games since September 2023.

The winger was left off the travelling squad to play Arsenal, according to the Dutch boss, because of his poor performance in preseason training.

Sancho refuted this on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response, suggesting that Ten Hag was making up the situation and painting himself as a “scapegoat.”

The winger was dismissed from the first team after making this post, and he was told that accepting an apology was the only option to return to Old Trafford.

He trained with the youth squad for the first half of the previous season after Sancho declined.

The 24-year-old winger’s loan transfer paid off as he regained some of the form that made him so highly sought-after in Germany.

With a standout performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal, he helped Dortmund go to an unexpected Champions League final; nonetheless, Die Schwarzgelben were defeated by Real Madrid in the final.

Dortmund administrators were extremely eager for Sancho to stay at Signal Iduna Park once his loan ended, but United’s asking price—rumored to be £40 million—proved to be too much for the thrifty German team.

Sancho’s short-term destiny had to be decided by Old Trafford officials because the pre-season training deadline was approaching at the beginning of July. Ten Hag, the club’s winger, met with senior officials at Carrington in what was called a “positive” encounter.

A line had been drawn over the dispute with his boss, and Sancho would be rejoining the first team for training shortly after, albeit it was not thought that an apology had been given.

After United’s sad 1-0 loss to Rosenborg in their preseason opener yesterday, Ten Hag has now made his first public remarks regarding the resolution with Sancho.

“As we said, we draw the line,” the Dutchman remarked. Jadon is a good player, and Manchester United needs talented players. We move on after drawing that line.

Though there were rumours that this was only a strategy to keep Sancho as valuable as possible in the transfer window (because which team would pay top dollar for a player who isn’t even practicing?)Ten Hag’s remarks seem to provide Sancho with an easy way to get back beneath him.
