Enzo Maresca said in his first remarks since leaving Leicester City that joining Chelsea is a “dream” for him.

Mauricio Pochettino steps down as manager at Stamford Bridge as Maresca signs a five-year deal with a six-year option. With two and a half months until the start of the new Premier League season, his decision leaves City without a manager.

Maresca’s decision to move to the capital was influenced by Chelsea, despite his worries about communication, transfers, and money issues at City. Although their eagerness to succeed right away might be a warning sign, there’s also a ton of talent here.

“Any coach’s dream is to join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Maresca remarked. That is the reason this opportunity excites me so much. Together with the staff and a very talented group of players, I’m looking forward to building a team that will make our supporters proud and carry on the club’s successful history.

Naturally, if Chelsea hadn’t been persuaded by Maresca as well, the deal would not have gone through, and they had to reimburse City about £10 million in order to acquire the Italian and six employees. Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, co-sporting directors, were impressed by what they heard from the 44-year-old.

“We are thrilled to have Enzo join Chelsea,” the statement read. “He has shown himself to be a superb coach with the ability to produce outstanding outcomes in a captivating and recognizable manner.

“We have been really impressed with Enzo during our conversations before his appointment. His goals and work ethic are in line with the club’s. We are really excited to collaborate with him.

Todd Boehly, the owner group of Chelsea, continued, saying, “We are ecstatic to welcome Enzo into the Chelsea family. In the upcoming years, we hope to help him and the other athletes on the team reach their full potential and live up to our expectations. We are confident that he can help the club achieve its competitive goals and realize its vision because he is a very talented coach and leader.
