Eberechi Eze, one of Arsenal’s new acquisitions this summer, is now involved in a title struggle with Liverpool. The former Crystal Palace player is now a direct opponent of the Premier League champions, but he still admires the club’s prior players.
Eze’s stature and reputation continue to rise, with him now fighting for the biggest prizes (he scored the FA Cup-winning goal last season) and being regarded as a fixture in Thomas Tuchel’s England side. It would be surprising if the 27-year-old did not compete in the 2026 World Cup next year.
Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze praises former Liverpool Superstar.
In a recent interview on the Stadium Astro YouTube channel, Arsenal’s new attacking midfielder was asked a variety of questions, including one in which he had to create his ‘ideal’ footballer. To do so, the 13-cap England international was assigned certain traits and named the greatest player in each.
When asked to select his finest left- and right-footed players, Eze identified two crucial characteristics. Of course, he immediately chose the greatest footballer in history, Lionel Messi, as the left-wing option. He then named former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold for the opposite foot without hesitation.

He has faced Alexander-Arnold in the Premier League over the years, and he has also worked with the amazing playmaker as an England teammate. Liverpool were eager to tie their homegrown right-back down to a new long-term contract, but their efforts were futile since the player wanted to go.
The defender joined Real Madrid for £8.4 million so that the Spanish club could bring him in ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. While his debut in Spain hasn’t gone as well as he’d anticipated, losing his starting spot to Dani Carvajal, Alexander-Arnold remains a very skilled player. His passing range and technique transformed the fullback position in England.
Trent Alexander-Arnold Set For Anfield Return
Alexander-Arnold, who was booed by his own fans during the end of the 2024-25 season when it became clear he would not be remaining at the club, should face a nasty greeting when he returns to Merseyside in early November.
On November 4, Real Madrid will travel to face Arne Slot’s team in the UEFA Champions League, in a rematch of a previous year’s championship fixture. Alexis MacAllister and Cody Gakpo scored for the English giants on that occasion. Alexander-Arnold is currently out due to an injury, but is scheduled to return following the October international break.
