Tyrell Malacia made his PSV Eindhoven debut after joining from Manchester United, and the Dutch media has given their assessment of him.
Malacia, who cost £13 million to move from Feyenoord to Manchester United in 2022, signed a loan deal with PSV through the end of the season in the January transfer window.
His departure from Old Trafford follows Man United’s £30 million acquisition of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
Malacia made eight appearances this season before departing the team, having been plagued by a string of injury problems during his time at Manchester United.
Last Saturday, he made his debut against Willem II in an Eredivisie match, his most recent appearance wearing a PSV shirt.
Willem II, who are currently lingering in the bottom half of the table, held PSV to a 1-1 draw.
In his own words, Malacia played more than 60 minutes, and Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad called the action on the pitch a “success for him.”
However, they assert that the loanee from the Red Devils has already “tasted the poisonous cup that PSV have had to drink for a while.”
However, the left-back was commended for the “energy” he brought to his new team after nearly recording an assist after setting up Luuk de Jong, who was unable to convert the opportunity.
Malacia has also been supported to remain in the starting lineup for PSV’s matchup with Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs.
The 25-year-old “seems to be usable and of immediate added value,” according to Algemeen Dagblad.
“A draw against Willem II is not good enough and that causes reactions,” Malacia said following the outcome.
“When I was replaced, I still felt appropriate. Although I am personally pleased that I was able to produce more than sixty minutes, the outcome is obviously not what we had in mind.
Results-wise, it’s a little challenging right now, and I’ve also been watching it from outside in recent weeks. Results are everything, and we must always prevail.
