Juventus coach Thiago Motta disclosed that Andrea Cambiaso informed the club he continues to experience discomfort from the ankle injury that caused him to miss the team’s loss to Napoli.

Manchester City is unlikely to seek a transfer for Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso, despite the champions expressing interest in a potential agreement.

City’s £54.5 million bid for Cambiaso has been declined as they seek to substitute Kyle Walker, with the Italian club insisting on £75.5 million.

On Tuesday, Juventus coach Thiago Motta disclosed that the 24-year-old informed the club he was still experiencing discomfort from the ankle injury that caused him to miss his team’s initial Serie A loss of the season against Napoli over the weekend.

Motta stated, “Cambiaso will not be present.” He has been dealing with an ankle issue, however he was attempting to assist the club. He stated that he prefers to take his time to fully recover.

Juventus is actively seeking a successor, with Feyenoord’s David Hancko identified as their primary target. However, after an initial inquiry from City, a transaction before Monday night’s deadline seems improbable.

Cambiaso progressed through the ranks of Genoa before to transferring to Juventus in an £8.5 million agreement in the summer of 2022. He attracted Pep Guardiola’s attention when he assisted the Turin club in defeating the Blues 2-0 in the Champions League in December.

The city has already made significant expenditures during the transfer period with the acquisitions of Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Juma Bah. Additionally, further agreements may be established as Guardiola seeks to rectify the decline experienced by the four-time Premier League champions.

The club has pledged a £250 million expenditure in the summer window to re-establish its dominance in English football, accompanied by a nine-and-a-half year contract valued at £240 million for striker Erling Haaland.

The Blues’ expenditure is unlikely to conclude, since Atalanta has set a £50 million price on Brazilian midfielder Ederson.

Juventus has proposed Manchester City the opportunity to acquire Douglas Luiz on loan, contingent upon an obligation to purchase at the conclusion of the season.

The Blues have consistently admired Ederson, and sources in Italy suggest that Atalanta is now receptive to negotiations with the decline of their Serie A title aspirations in recent weeks.
