Chelsea meets frequently with their preferred manager to take Pochettino’s place.
Chelsea’s hunt for a new manager appears set to intensify over the coming days, as it has been revealed that the club has already had multiple meetings with the 50-year-old Brentford manager in an attempt to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Following the abrupt departure of their cherished manager, Mauricio Pochettino, last week, Chelsea has been looking for a possible replacement. Roberto De Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, and Kieran Frank seem to be the top four candidates to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Following a successful campaign finale and a turnaround in the second half of the 2023–2024 season, Todd Boehly and his team made the decision to fire the Argentine manager.

Christian Falk, via Fabrizio Romano’s daily briefing, claims that Frank and Chelsea have already met multiple times. Frank also garnered interest from Bayern Munich, and the manager of the Bees is expected to be considered for the position of manager at Chelsea going forward.
Since 2018, Frank has led and managed Brentford, and it appears likely that he will continue to do so for another season. The 50-year-old hasn’t discounted the possibility of relocating, though. Frank recently stated in an interview with The Athletic:
“August 17 is probably when I’ll be on that touchline. That will, in my opinion, occur. Here, I’m content. I truly do mean what I’ve said numerous times. It’s practically the ideal football life. I don’t have any rush or desire to pursue anything else, but I also believe that I’ve learned to be open to whatever may come my way in life.
“I see myself staying here for a very long time. May I remain here for an additional seven years? I’m not sure, and it’s not because I don’t like Brentford; rather, I’m just curious if I should try something else.
All of Chelsea’s shortlisted managers—aside from De Zerbi—will be in the Premier League the following season, regardless of whether they succeed Mauricio Pochettino. Frank enjoyed yet another successful season at Brentford, but McKenna and Maresca were promoted to the Championship to play for Ipswich Town and Leicester City, respectively.
