Many Manchester United fans thought it was “disgraceful” that Erik ten Hag chose Marcus Rashford over Amad Diallo for their important game against Liverpool.

United lost 2-1 at Brighton last weekend, but Amad scored in that game. However, manager Ten Hag put him on the bench and Alejandro Garnacho took his place on the right wing for Sunday’s game against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Even though Amad and Garnacho have helped score more goals this season, Rashford kept his spot in the starting lineup. A lot of United fans are mad at the former Ajax manager. Some have said that he “doesn’t have the balls” to drop Rashford.

@markgoldbridge wrote, “Amad PTOM scored last week and against Liverpool last season, and he’s on the bench???” It makes sense, since Rashford has been awful this season. Today, the favouritism has to be explained, or Ten Hag is adding more stress to his already heavy load.

Before Arne Slot’s Liverpool came to town, Garnacho had scored one goal in the Community Shield and set up another in the Premier League. Amad had also scored a goal. Rashford hasn’t scored yet, and his games haven’t been as good as those of the other two players. It’s important for Rashford to get back to the form he had in 2022–23 after a disappointing season in which he scored only eight goals and set up six others. The English player has lost his spot on the international team in recent months. If he doesn’t get back to his best, it will become harder to see him in the starting lineup.
The Premier League will take a break during the international break. It will start up again in the middle of September. On September 14, United goes to Southampton, and on the same day, Liverpool hosts Nottingham Forest.
