Diogo Jota car crash scene footage emerges after tragic death of Liverpool player and his brother

Jota and his brother, Andre, were killed in a car crash in Spain on Thursday morning.

Footage from the scene of the deadly automobile incident involving Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva has emerged, revealing how the car initially left the road.

The crash occurred in Zamora, northwestern Spain, early Thursday morning.

According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the automobile blew a tyre while overtaking and then deserted the road.

It subsequently caught fire and became ‘engulfed in flames’, according to witnesses who called the emergency 1-1-2 service.

Jota, 28, and his 26-year-old brother, a professional footballer, were confirmed as the crash’s casualties.

Tributes have poured in from all around the football world and beyond, with Liverpool expressing, “Liverpool Football Club is devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.”

“The club has been notified that the 28-year-old died in a road traffic accident in Spain, together with his brother Andre.

“Liverpool FC will make no further comment at this time and ask that the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates, and club personnel be respected as they try to cope with an incomprehensible tragedy.

“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”

Warning: The photos below may cause distress to viewers.

Footage recorded by Spanish outlet El Mundo Diario de Castilla y Leon shows the car’s tyre tread and how it veers to the left before exiting the road.

It also shows the remains of the Lamborghini, which we have decided not to publish here.

After leaving the road, the car then appears to strike a nearby guardrail before rebounding back towards the road.

Jota, who has three children, married Rute Cardoso on June 22.

In 2020, he joined Liverpool from fellow Premier League club Wolves, where he scored 65 goals in all competitions.

Jota won the Premier League title with the Reds earlier this year, after FA Cup and EFL Cup wins in 2022.

He also played for Liverpool, which finished second in the Champions League in 2022.

Away from sports, Jota was an ardent gamer who was once regarded as the top player in FIFA’s Weekend League.

He then formed his own esports squad, for which he personally competed on several occasions.

He was also a snooker lover, having visited the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible earlier this year.
