Derby County are looking for a new attacking midfielder as manager John Eustace attempts to boost his team’s firepower after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion on Friday.
Patrick Agyemang opened the scoring for the Rams in the first half at Pride Park, after Baggies debutant Max O’Leary dropped the ball at the forward’s feet from a free kick, allowing the American to score his eighth goal of the season.
It appeared that the hosts were on their way to a third consecutive Championship victory, with the East Midlands side poised to leap into the top six for the time being. However, Chris Mepham was able to squeeze a header over the line in extra time to save a point for West Brom.
It was again another dismal outcome for Derby, who have only won four home games all season. Nonetheless, the club has found a new potential star to help it win those home games.
Derby County target free agent Amine Bassi after an MLS spell.
Oscar Fraulo has already made an impact in black and white, and Eustace is certainly interested in adding another star to the midfield.

According to FootMercato, the Rams are interested in Moroccan playmaker Amine Bassi, who became a free agency after two years with the Houston Dynamo in the MLS.
Bassi played 114 games for the Dynamo, helping them win the 2023 US Open Cup. However, he wishes to return to Europe, having previously played in France for AS Nancy, FC Metz, and SAS Epinal.

However, Bassi has played Championship football.
He spent the second part of the 2021/22 season on loan with Barnsley, where he scored twice and assisted five times in 16 appearances across all competitions during an outstanding short spell in South Yorkshire.
The former Morocco youth international has already played at Pride Park, where the Tykes were thrashed 2-0 by Derby in March 2022; may Bassi now return to England for a second spell?
Derby County require more midfield goals, which Amine Bassi may give. This season, Carlton Morris and Agyemang have led the way with 18 goals, while five other players have contributed two goals each.
Bobby Clark has regained form in recent months, but he has only scored twice, and adding another attacking midfielder to the squad is critical if Derby are to break into the top six in the coming weeks and months.

Bassi would also provide players in more advanced positions more possibilities, as his five assists for Barnsley demonstrate his creative abilities.
At 28, there may be concerns about his age, as his development would most certainly be limited, but Agyemang has demonstrated that the MLS is capable of producing new stars, and the Moroccan would be a steal on the free agent market.
