Although Dennis Wise is getting close to 60, it’s obvious that he still possesses the aggression and persistence that made him famous in the 1990s as a Chelsea midfielder. During a Legends game at Anfield on Saturday, the 58-year-old former England international got into a fight with Jay Spearing, a former Liverpool player.
Playing in a midfield with John Obi Mikel and Claude Makelele, Wise captained Chelsea Legends against their Liverpool counterparts. A 37-year-old Ramires, Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, and William Gallas were among the other former Chelsea players who made appearances. On the other hand, Liverpool Legends won 2-0 because of a superb brace from the wildly popular Peter Crouch.

By scoring a fantastic header, the former striker, who is now most known for his popular podcast, turned back time. Then, the 44-year-old doubled the Reds’ lead with a clever lob.
Wise and Spearing Clash in Legends Match
Chelsea Legends captain was angry with ex-Liverpool midfielder
Despite their advanced age, midfielders Wise and 36-year-old Spearing were still in love at Anfield this weekend in one of the Premier League’s most intense games over the years: Liverpool vs. Chelsea. After a 50/50 challenge in the 28th minute of play, Wise and Spearing were left furious. Watch the following video at approximately 1:33:15 to see the occurrence that made both fans and commentators laugh:
Wise was obviously shaken, but the referee arrived promptly to stop the situation from getting worse. Given how many opponents Wise squashed during his career, it may seem ironic that he was pictured pointing a finger at Spearing, obviously upset by the force of the tackle.
‘Dennis Wise Was Horrible to Play Against’
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt described playing against Wise
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, two former Manchester United players, recently reminisced about their experiences facing the 5′ 6″ central midfielder. Dennis Wise treated me horribly. I was sent off because of him. According to the Metro, Butt stated on the Football Greatest podcast, “He got away with pinching me in the balls.”
He was acquitted of murder. After giving me a head bump, he grabbed my balls while we were on the ground. I got sent off anyhow, so I should have punched or booted him. I merely kneed him slightly.
“Aside from being a wind-up merchant, he’s a good guy when you meet him outside of football.” While I was there, he worked at Newcastle, and while he’s a decent guy overall, he was nasty on the pitch.

Scholes went on: “Dennis Wise was awful, wasn’t he? He committed some of the most bizarre acts ever. During a game, I recall rolling on the floor with him. We weren’t fighting or anything, but he had his finger in my mouth. He’s attempting to tear my throat. He was an unpleasant individual.
