David Ornstein shares bombshell update on Viktor Gyokeres’ move to Arsenal ‘collapsing’

According to a recent Portuguese rumor, Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer from Sporting CP to Arsenal may not go through.

According to a shocking report in Portugal, there is still a significant obstacle to be cleared before Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer to Arsenal is finalized.

Arsenal targeted the Sporting CP striker as their top target to bolster their assault and provide much-needed goals after finishing second three consecutive years.

With 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, Gyokeres more than meets the requirements. He expressed his desire to leave the team in order to take on a fresh challenge to the Portuguese champions.

With Gyokeres at odds with Sporting and refusing to train as his club and Arsenal engage in frequent back-and-forth negotiations, the Swede’s story has dominated headlines throughout the summer.

Gyokeres’ personal terms were never a problem, and it seemed like an agreement was reached on the transfer cost, which was rumored to be €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons.

What’s the latest on Arsenal’s acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres?
However, according to Record, there is a disagreement between Sporting and Arsenal, and the talks are “at risk of collapsing completely” and are at a “dead end.”

The bonuses are thought to be the main source of contention, as Arsenal is unwilling to comply with Sporting’s demand for realistic add-ons.

Only €3 million of the variables are considered “easily achievable” by Sporting, who reject the deal, according to A Bola, another Portuguese publication.

Remarks from David Ornstein on Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has provided an update on the situation, stating that the deal is in jeopardy even though the former Coventry City striker’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, waived his commission in an attempt to expedite the transaction.

Ornstein clarified in an interview with Sky Sports News for their ‘Back Pages’ segment: “They still need to finalize the add-ons’ nature. According to reports from Portugal tonight, Sporting president Frederico Varandas wants near, fixed, and guaranteed add-ons. Perhaps Arsenal has a slightly different idea of how to get to those add-ons.

“These are unavoidably included in the latter moments of discussions, and things can become a little heated.

“Arsenal is working to resolve issue and is in a very advanced position on it. Although it’s not finalized yet, they’re hoping to get him on their preseason tour.

After acquiring Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, Gyokeres would be Arsenal’s fourth acquisition if they are able to work out a deal with Sporting.
