There have been rumours about Alexander Isak joining Liverpool.
David Ornstein of The Athletic has provided a significant update on the Alexander Isak trade drama involving Newcastle United.
Isak has been linked to leaving Newcastle after netting 27 goals in 42 games for the Magpies during the 24–25 campaign.
The Swedish international has previously been linked to teams including Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
It has been generally asserted, nevertheless, that Newcastle is not interested in selling their talisman and that it would take a very high offer to get them to do so.
According to speculations in recent weeks, Liverpool may attempt to test Newcastle’s resolve.
The Premier League winners are reportedly still under the FFP limit, which means they may spend more money if they so choose, even if they have spent a lot of money on players like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez (subject to formal announcement).
Darwin Nunez is expected to leave, thus Arne Slot is apparently searching for a new striker.
Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres, Julian Alvarez, and Isak have all been linked to a move to Anfield.
Ornstein recently spoke on the situation, reiterating Newcastle’s commitment to keep Isak and discussing the player’s position.
On The Athletic podcast, he stated: “Newcastle wants to extend Isak’s contract and has no plans to sell him at all. With more than three years left on his present contract, which already pays well, they are in a great position. He is at the heart of that huge Saudi-led enterprise, so they won’t hesitate to contribute more.
According to the player, Newcastle’s Champions League qualification for the upcoming season and his victory of the team’s first trophy in a long time guarantee him top-tier football. He always has a smile on his face and seems content.
Ornstein went on: “Despite recent whispers and reports, there is no indication of any developments; it may cost up to £150 million just to initiate a conversation. #LFC may make an effort, but that doesn’t guarantee success.
