‘Corruption’ – Real Madrid Fans Slam ‘Weird’ Dean Huijsen Red Card vs Sociedad

Real Madrid fans accused La Liga of “corruption” after defender Dean Huijsen received a fairly severe red card in the club’s most recent encounter.

Real Madrid has entered a new era with the appointment of Xabi Alonso as manager in the summer, succeeding the highly successful Carlo Ancelotti. During his tenure at Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso established himself as one of the world’s most promising young managers.

At the time of writing, Madrid had played three full La Liga games. On top of their already established and intriguing players, Los Blancos have signed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Franco Mastantuono, and Alvaro Carerras to add further youth and quality to the squad.

Dean Huijsen is another such addition. Huijsen, a long-regarded potential talent, was exposed to consistent, top-level play with Bournemouth last season, when he was one of the Premier League’s greatest central defenders before moving to Madrid.

Madrid traveled to Real Sociedad for its first match following the September international break. Kylian Mbappe handed his team an early lead, which Arda Guler increased shortly before halftime. Huijsen, on the other hand, was sent off in the 32nd minute, leaving many disappointed with the decision.

‘Corruption Remains The Same’

Following Huijsen’s dismissal, Madrid fans took to social media to express their indignation, with some even accusing La Liga of corruption.

“If you still don’t believe Barcelona purchased the referees, watch this. Huijsen wasn’t the only one with this joke!”

“Spanish football is a hotbed of corruption.”

Another fan simply wrote “corruption” in the aftermath of the sending off, while another noted the time it took the Video Assistant Referee to make a decision before calling the situation “weird behaviour.”

The event occurred just past the halfway line, which is the source of many Madrid fans’ complaints, given the distance between the challenge and the goal. It remains to be seen whether Madrid would appeal the red card, but considering the circumstances, it would be unusual if there were no more discussion over the Spanish international’s dismissal.
