Chris Wilder has outlined the timing for Ryan One’s probable Sheffield United departure, with the striker scheduled to leave on loan during the January transfer window.
The Blades meet Southampton at St. Mary’s on Wednesday evening, looking to rebound from Saturday’s 1-0 setback to Charlton Athletic. However, they will be without Djibril Soumare and Japhet Tanganga, who were sent off at The Valley.
Inconsistency has plagued the South Yorkshire outfit this season, and they desperately need their more experienced players to step up in the coming weeks to ensure they finish near the top of the Championship rather than at the bottom.
However, Wilder will be keen that the future of the club is in good hands and that means giving minutes to some of the younger stars, including One. However, due to his limited playing time at Sheffield United, a decision will be taken about his short-term future.
Chris Wilder reveals when Ryan One will leave Sheffield United on loan
The 19-year-old has only made six league appearances for the Blades this season, and he has been linked with a move to nearby Yorkshire club Rotherham United, according to a report in The Star earlier this month.

While the deal has yet to be approved, the Scottish forward appears to be leaving the club before the transfer deadline on February 2. Now, Wilder has revealed when a decision will be made on One.
He said (via: Yorkshire Post): “There’s a lot of interest in Ryan. The majority of League One and League Two sides are on the phone at the moment regarding his availability. But I am not going to leave myself light at all. We’ll see what happens over the next seven to 10 days. Other clubs are in the same boat as me.
“There’s going to have to be a little bit of patience. But if it comes to a time where I feel that’s the best thing for Ryan and the club, and we’re not leaving ourselves light, then we’ll look at it.”
Ryan One is keen for a loan away from Sheffield United.
One has only played 127 minutes of league football this season, and his growth is being hampered by his lack of first-team experience.
As a result, Sheffield United must sanction his loan departure, with League One providing the ideal environment for the forward to gain the time he requires on the pitch to improve.

He scored once in the Championship for the Blades last season in 12 games, but this remains his only senior goal since leaving Hamilton Academical in the summer of 2023.
One will need confidence, and if he wants to work his way into the Sheffield United team in the future, this could be his chance to impress Wilder.
