Chris Wilder confirms multi-million bids for Sheffield United full-back as transfer stance is revealed.

Femi Seriki has had a fantastic season at Sheffield United, generating interest in January that will most likely be followed up in the summer.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder said that bids for full-back Femi Seriki were received in January.

Sheffield United have had a dismal 2025/26 season. Chris Wilder returned in an attempt to steer the club away from relegation after a disappointing summer transfer window and the unsuccessful appointment of Ruben Selles.

However, it has been a difficult season at Bramall Lane. Key decisions now await the Blades management, as Wilder’s long-term future remains uncertain.

Despite this, Wilder has expressed his thoughts on the club’s future transfer policy. After confirming January offers for Femi Seriki and Andre Brooks, he stated that the club must learn from previous mistakes with players like as Kyle Walker, as published by The Star.

“We’ve got boys in the academy coming through, so we’re in a good spot in terms of what other clubs haven’t got,” said Wilder. “They don’t have that option or ability.

“But we can’t afford to sell them cheaply, and if we don’t, they’ll form the foundation of a future group that will be at the top of the division next year. Without a doubt; 100%, in my opinion.

Wilder understands that Sheffield United has players to develop around.

After such a dismal season, it’s easy for SUFC fans to be pessimistic about the club. Seriki and Brooks, as well as Sydie Peck and Oli Arblaster, provide a solid foundation for the team to develop on.

The club has yet to fully recover from the disappointment of losing to Sunderland in the play-off final. Going into the upcoming season, they only need to turn to the Black Cats for inspiration.

The Wearside club experienced a similar trajectory before being promoted to Sheffield United. After losing in the play-offs in 2023, they finished 16th in the Championship and won promotion the next season with a young squad.

Dan Neil, Chris Rigg, Anthony Patterson, and Tommy Watson were all major causes for their rise. They were all Sunderland graduates.

Sheffield United will still need to recruit well in the summer, as well as keep the majority of their players or sell for a reasonable price, as Wilder stated. However, if they play their cards correctly, a promotion push next year is possible.

Femi Seriki had a breakthrough season.
It is not surprising that Seriki expressed interest in January. He has had a spectacular breakthrough campaign for Sheffield United.

The full-back played seldom last season but has been in and around the first team for nearly five years. However, this year has been his greatest to date, by a significant margin.

Seriki has claimed the right-back spot, competing with Ki-Jana Hoever since his arrival in January. The 23-year-old had to wait for his moment at SUFC.

Seriki has been a bright spot in Sheffield United’s otherwise terrible season. The club’s commitment will most certainly be challenged again this summer.
