The Premier League is taking an interest in Conor Gallagher.
According to reports, Aston Villa is a top contender to sign Conor Gallagher of Chelsea this summer.
Although the midfielder is a Stamford Bridge fan favorite, he might be traded to allay worries over FFP.
An inquiry into Gallagher’s availability has reportedly already taken place, with ‘preliminary negotiations’ having taken place between Aston Villa and The Athletic.
This summer, Unai Emery hopes to bolster Aston Villa’s roster in preparation for the team’s first Champions League campaign since the competition’s rebranding.
Gallagher’s camp has been contacted by Aston Villa, who believe he is the best fit to join the West Midlands-based team.
Chelsea’s interest in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran may facilitate their pursuit of Gallagher.
Duran is once again a target for Chelsea this summer after the Blues were rumored to have explored a deal for the forward in the January transfer window.
It has been reported elsewhere that clubs in Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Spain have expressed interest in signing the former MLS forward.
On international duty, Gallagher did, however, obliquely suggest that he could choose to stay at Chelsea, where he is eager to work with new head coach Enzo Maresca.
“[The appointment] is really exciting,” he stated. “I’ve seen and heard excellent things. Everyone at Chelsea, including myself, is incredibly eager to collaborate with him. In order for us to advance under the new manager and return to our rightful place, we want Chelsea to return there.”
However, if Villa and Chelsea can work out a deal, Duran’s departure may be advantageous to both teams, so that decision could not be in his control.
