If Chelsea fails to qualify for European competition, they will lose a lucrative deal with Nike’s Jordan Brand to manufacture their kits. Chelsea is currently 11th in the Premier League after 26 games, 11 points behind Manchester United in sixth, which means they will play in the Europa League.

Since Todd Boehly and his consortium took over Stamford Bridge in May 2022, money has flowed. The billionaire’s willingness to spend on sporting success is evident at Chelsea, where he has spent more than £1 billion. In the first full season since his takeover, Boehly’s Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League, their lowest finish since 1993/94 when they finished 14th, and are currently 11th after a difficult start to the current season.

According to Sportico, Chelsea’s poor performances could cost the club valuable sponsorship. The club was reportedly in talks with Riyadh Air, but with Chelsea expected to miss out on European competition, particularly the UEFA Champions League, negotiations have stalled.

In addition to negotiations with the Saudi airline, the club is in discussions with Bank of America and Malaysia Airlines. Bank of America has long been a corporate partner of the MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, of which Boehly is a co-owner, and has advised the club’s owners on borrowing options.
