Chelsea announce four players are leaving the club with ‘five others placed on transfer list’ in ruthless cull

In addition to announcing their end-of-season retained list, Chelsea is rumored to have transferred five players.

The team led by Enzo Maresca had a great 2024–25 season, finishing fourth in the Premier League and winning the Conference League.

The team has already acquired French defender Mamadou Sarr and English attacker Liam Delap ahead of the Club World Cup, and the Blues squad will probably see additional changes throughout the summer.

Chelsea confirmed its 2024–25 retained list and the departures of four players in a statement released on Monday.

“Four players will depart Chelsea at the end of this month, when their current contracts expire on 30 June,” said the statement.

Lucas Bergstrom, the goalie, ends his six-year tenure with the Blues. He progressed through our Academy after joining us from Turun Palloseura in his home country of Finland for the 2018–19 campaign.

“This summer, Eddie Beach will also depart from the club. In addition to spending time on loan at a number of teams, most recently Crawley Town, the Wales Under-21 international joined from Southampton in 2022 and was benched for the men’s team in two Premier League games in 2023–2024.

Luke Campbell, who played frequently for our Under-18 team as we won the Under-18 Premier League southern crown in 2023–2024, is the other goalkeeper leaving Chelsea at the end of June. After returning to the Blues, he made three appearances for the Under-21 team while on loan at Hendon for the first half of this season.

Dylan Williams, whose permanent move to Burton Albion was finalized last month, is also on the Premier League released list.

“Chelsea thanks all four departing players for their contribution during their time with the Blues and wish them well for the next chapter in their career.”

Robert Sanchez, Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, and Raheem Sterling all reportedly for sale, according to sources from London World.

Last season, Felix and Sterling were loaned to AC Milan and Arsenal, respectively, but neither player lived up to their expectations.

Sanchez, who played in 32 Premier League games, was occasionally harshly criticized and might be replaced. After joining Chelsea for £52 million from RB Leipzig in 2023, Nkunku hasn’t really established himself as a starter, and Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in him.

“I have no information to suggest that Chelsea are trying to actively sell Noni Madueke this summer,” Sky Sports transfer expert Kaveh Solhekol said last week, perhaps putting an end to rumors that Madueke was connected to a surprise move to Napoli.

“His ability to penetrate opposing defenses is one of the main reasons the club values him.

“Having said that, the main window will be open until the end of August, so who knows what’s going to happen, but Chelsea don’t need to sell him, and he hasn’t asked to leave.”
