Charlton Athletic’s three-game unbeaten streak ended on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to Norwich City.
Pelle Mattasson’s fifth-minute strike earned the Canaries all three points at the Valley, propelling them to tenth place in the table.
It was Norwich’s sixth win in seven league games, as the club moves closer to the play-offs in the final weeks of the season.
Meanwhile, the Addicks lost ground to Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, and Leicester City, all of whom gained points below them in the table.
The London club is looking to secure their place in the Championship after being promoted from League One last year.
The distance to the relegation zone is currently nine points, with only seven games remaining once league play resumes after the March international break.
Nathan Jones accuses Philippe Clement of lacking respect.

Nathan Jones accused Philippe Clement of disrespecting him following Saturday’s 1-0 victory at the Valley.
He criticized the Norwich manager for making the 52-year-old wait to shake his hand after the game while celebrating with staff and high-fiving fans.According to Jones (via Pink Un), managers typically shake hands after a match. He shook the hands of 25 people before approaching the manager. I believe that is a lack of respect.
“I don’t high-five the crowd and everyone else, and then go and shake the kit man’s hands, water bottle hands, and everything else.”I leave, showing respect to their manager.
“Then if I want to do anything, if I want to high-five anyone, I do that.”So I believe he shown a genuine lack of respect, and I told him so.”
Clement took over Norwich in November, with the club in risk of being relegated to League One due to poor play under Liam Manning.
However, he has supervised 16 wins in 27 games, propelling the Canaries into the top half of the Championship standings.
While a play-off spot remains unlikely at this point, the distance to sixth-place Southampton is only nine points with seven games remaining in the season.
The Norfolk side will play against relegation-threatened Portsmouth on April 3 at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, Charlton wasted an opportunity to go ahead of Sheffield United with this setback, as the Blades also lost.
After their 0-0 draw with Watford, the Addicks remain 18th in the rankings, with Leicester City currently only nine points behind in 22nd place.
Jones’ side has won just two of their previous eight league games, but they still have a comfortable lead over the bottom three at this point in the season.
Charlton’s next game is at home against Bristol City on April 3rd, at 3pm.

Nathan Jones needs to move forward from the Norwich loss.
Jones has stated that he does not want to make a big issue about the incident with Clement, but he has brought it up with the Norwich manager and made it public in the media after the fact.
It is an entirely unnecessary dispute for the 52-year-old to get engaged in, and it comes out as sour grapes following a 1-0 home loss to an in-form team.
Jones must work on ensuring that his squad scores a few more points between now and the conclusion of the season in order for the Addicks to remain in the Championship.
Clement will give this event little regard, since his club is now flying and appears to be a dark horse for a play-off position after this win.
