A medical incident in the stands forced the cancellation of Portsmouth’s home game versus Charlton Athletic. In the 12th minute, the game at The Valley was stopped while paramedics attended to a Pompey fan in the Covered End. After receiving treatment by first responders, the supporter was eventually taken away. At 1:30 pm, the stadium announced that the game had been called off.
Southampton hires manager Tonda Eckert as their next head coach.
After winning four of his five games as interim manager, the former Under-21s manager has agreed to a one-and-a-half-year contract at St Mary’s. The 32-year-old has now been officially confirmed as Will Still’s permanent replacement. Still was fired following Southampton’s 0–2 loss to PNE. He is the ninth manager the team has had since the summer of 2022.
