As authorities investigate an incident involving Rangers star Vaclav Cerny during Sunday’s Old Firm clash, Celtic has released a statement. Following Hamza Igamane’s thrilling late winner at Parkhead, the Czech Republic international was spotted sprinkling water at Celtic supporters.
Enraged supporters reacted to the claimed ‘attack,’ and Cerny was seen grinning at the mayhem as police forced to block themselves in front of the Rangers dugout. Now that officials have confirmed they are looking into the case, the Hoops have finally spoken out about it.

Celtic said in a statement posted on their website that they were investigating fan complaints about Cerny’s behaviour internally and that they were also assessing ‘the policing operation’ of incidents that happened off-stadia.
“The policing operation around yesterday’s game, particularly the events off Celtic Park, has drawn concerns from Celtic Football Club. We are analysing and investigating the concerns raised by our fans. These issues must be resolved, and in order to comprehend the situation and happenings, the Club will be speaking with supporters and Police Scotland.
“With regards to the match at Celtic Park, we can also confirm that the Club has raised concerns regarding members of the away team engaging with Celtic supporters with the relevant authorities.”
Due to a ticket disagreement, the incident marred what was a historic occasion in Scottish football: the first time since 2023 that away supporters were permitted to watch an Old Firm game. Two hours prior to kickoff, 2,500 Rangers fans arrived at Celtic Park as directed by officials.
Vaclav Cerny’s Possible Prohibition
The winger can be subject to retroactive punishment.
The Scottish Sun has claimed that the Scottish FA may suspend the winger for up to eight games as part of the possible footballing action against Cerny. According to SFA regulations, the Wolfsburg loanee’s conduct could result in a suspension of up to two eight games, which would, in the worst case scenario, effectively ban him from the remainder of the season.
According to reports, former Chelsea player Dujon Sterling may also be disciplined for a disparaging remark that was included with a social media post after the visitors’ comeback triumph.
