Carabao Cup 2025-26 Third Round Draw as Liverpool and Arsenal Learn Opponents

The big boys are in the third round of the Carabao Cup, but they will not face Manchester United after Grimsby Town pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the competition’s history.

The Red Devils, who won the cup in 2023, were humbled by the League Two underdogs, who advanced to the third round. The Mariners will face Sheffield Wednesday in the next round, who eliminated Leeds United on Tuesday with a record 12-11 penalty triumph following a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

Newcastle United, last season’s Carabao Cup winners, will face Bradford City to begin their title defence. Arne Slot’s Premier League champions will face Championship side Southampton after losing 2-1 to Eddie Howe’s Magpies in the previous season’s final.

Carabao Cup, Third Round Draw

The Premier League’s European contingent received byes into the third round, which also included Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa. There will also be a continuation of last year’s competition, with round three matchups spread over two weeks to coincide with the Champions League and Europa League dates.

This implies that clubs from the Champions League or Europa League cannot play each other in this round. However, there are some delectable things to look forward to.
