Southampton has been instructed to look into hiring Brendan Rodgers as manager should the chance arise.
The Saints are still searching for a new manager after firing Will Still just before the November international break. The 33-year-old managed 13 Championship games, winning just two of them.
Gary O’Neil, the former manager of Wolves and Bournemouth, was supposedly in advanced discussions about taking over at one stage, although other names have also been linked to the position at St. Mary’s. Nevertheless, such aspirations might have been derailed by his past involvement with bitter rival Portsmouth.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former manager of Manchester United, stated to Sky Sports that he is “open” to moving to a team “mid-Championship and up,” indicating that the Saints may want to consider him at this time.
Brendan Rodgers is favored by Southampton to become their new manager.

After taking over after Still left, Tonda Eckert, the manager of Southampton’s U21 team, has recently hinted that she may be granted the primary position at St. Mary’s permanently.
Although the 32-year-old has won his first two games as manager, the Saints’ supporters have voiced grave concerns about his inexperience.
According to reports, Southampton shortlisted former Celtic and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, who is still on the bookmakers’ list of potential managers to take over.
Martin Sanders, a Southampton supporter on Football League World, has cautioned his team to try to sign Rodgers if the chance to do so arises.
Martin said, “If there’s a chance they can get him in, I would definitely try.” “I don’t think they’re communicating or conversing with anyone right now.
“The idea of Solskjaer is quite appealing to many supporters down here. I believe that one of the clear fans’ favorites would be Rodgers. Brendan Rodgers would demonstrate their genuine ambition if they so desired.
“I believe he is the kind of man who would be respected, understand the game, organize the team, and do all the necessary things.”
“He meets all of my requirements. The main issue with him,
in my opinion, is whether you have adequate control over transfers with the owners.
Brendan Rodgers might wait for a more prominent position.

Southampton possesses the facilities and resources of a team that has played a significant portion of its recent history in the Premier League, which makes becoming their manager an alluring opportunity.
Rodgers may believe he still has the qualifications to play at a level above the Championship, though, given his extensive career success in the top division with teams like Swansea City, Liverpool, Leicester City, and Celtic.
The Northern Irishman won the last two league titles north of the border and previously won domestic cups with Leicester, despite being fired by Celtic lately.
Thus, it is possible that Premier League teams will eventually inquire about his talents, which is what Rodgers may be waiting for. In this case, Southampton would barely make it and could have to stick to their plan of giving Eckert the position for good.
Naturally, supporters will hope that isn’t the case. To maximize what’s left of a talented Championship team that can compete for promotion back to the Premier League, an ambitious and experienced managerial hire is required, and the financial resources are also in place to support that bid in January.
