Buyako Saka slammed for reaction to F1 grid walk interview as fans brand Arsenal star ’embarrassing’

The winger for Arsenal is at the Spanish Grand Prix.

After Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka appeared to decline an interview at Sunday’s (June 1) Spanish Grand Prix, fans were ready to voice their opinions.

Saka, 23, was one of several football players who attended the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, including Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, Jordan Pickford of Everton, and Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona.

A reporter attempted to interview Saka briefly prior to the event.

“Can we talk for a moment, Bukayo? We’re live on Sky Sports.” Simon Lazenby of Sky Sports enquired.

Saka said, “I’ve got nothing to say,”

The host answered, “Then we’ll go on.”

“That was not very friendly…” commented Nico Rosberg.

“Better than that soccer player from before” is what Rosberg added after talking to Pierre Gasly.

On social media, fans quickly shared their thoughts about the awkward moment.

“Was that Saka straight up rejecting Sky Sports?” said one fan.

Another said, “Nico Rosberg gives no f***s, calling Saka out to his face!”

A third person said, “Didn’t have Saka down as the arrogant type, Arteta having an effect on him clearly.”

According to a fourth, “Pipe down Saka lad, you’ve never won anything.”

A fifth insulted: “I say it every time but if you’re privileged enough to be invited on the grid itself, give up a little bit of your time and don’t be rude. *cough* Bukayo Saka.”

Harry Kane, his England teammate, did, however, pause for a quick conversation.

“I’m good, I’m hot, it’s roasting, but I’m looking forward to the race,” Kane stated. I follow Formula One as much as I can, and this is my first time. I’m excited to see some of the English players that are doing well this season.

“I adore Lando; he’s been playing well this season and has a strong opportunity to win the title.

It all comes down to being ready, getting out there, and being free for him. Hopefully, he can make it all the way because he knows he can do it.”

Cole Palmer of Chelsea and Ebe Eze of Crystal Palace were among the other England players who were seen on the grid.

Before playing a friendly match against Senegal on Tuesday, June 10, the Three Lions will play a World Cup qualifying match against Andorra on Saturday, June 7.
