Donny van de Beek is expected to finalise his transfer from Manchester United to Girona in La Liga. Bruno Fernandes, the captain of the Red Devils, gave the outgoing player a heartfelt greeting.

Following Donny van de Beek’s confirmation of his departure from Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes sent the Dutch midfielder a heartfelt note.

The midfield player, who cost £35 million to acquire from Ajax in 2020, made 62 appearances during his dreadful four-year tenure at Old Trafford but was never able to ignite the stadium. Van van Beek leaves United as their first high-profile summer departure as the team gets ready to let go of players like Mason Greenwood during Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first transfer window, which saw the addition of technical director Jason Wilcox and sporting director Dan Ashworth.

The 27-year-old is expected to seal a switch to La Liga team Girona after spending time on loan at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt in previous seasons. He will sign a contract with the Spanish team for an estimated £420,000, with the possibility of a rise to £12.7m.

Prior to Van van Beek’s arrival, Portugal’s top player Fernandes arrived in January and gave his old comrade a heartfelt letter. With a red heart added, he said, “You deserve the best,” on social media.

Van van Beek, who had a good time off the pitch despite having a difficult time on it, seemed to have been experiencing an emotional moment. The Dutchman posted the following on Instagram: “Dear Manchester United family.

“As my journey at the club draws to a conclusion, today is a special day. All of you have my gratitude for your support over the years.

“We are appreciative that Manchester United made us feel so welcome from the time we arrived. We are grateful to everyone at the club for welcoming us in. Thank you so much to all of the fans who helped to make these years so remarkable.

Fernandes has hailed Donny van de Beek

“Not only does Manchester offer great football, but our two kids were born here, so this area will always hold a particular place in our hearts. I hope everyone has success and we’ll cross paths again.

Fernandes wasn’t the only player to react to Van van Beek’s goodbye; Kobbie Mainoo, a breakout star for Manchester United and England, too expressed his emotions. The 19-year-old and former Everton and Ajax footballer Davvy Klaassen both shared a basic heat emoji on social media. In response to the farewell message, former Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who attended the Ajax academy alongside Van van Beek, joyously put many hearts.
