Chelsea is searching for a new manager, and whoever takes over will probably bring in a new backroom staff.
In fact, there will probably be a ton of new faces in the Chelsea dugout come football season, and Ashley Cole is one man who would like to take a crack at coaching at Stamford Bridge.
Cole was questioned about whether or not we would ever see him back in the Chelsea dugout while speaking with Virgin Media Sport.
Even though Cole’s brief stint as Chelsea’s coach under Frank Lampard last season didn’t turn out as planned, he says he still has aspirations of working there.
Ashley Cole desires a return to Chelsea.
Cole talked about Mauricio Pochettino’s recent exit before talking about his possible comeback to Stamford Bridge.
“It was a difficult beginning for him, but finishing where they did was a fantastic accomplishment in and of itself. It was always going to be difficult with the expectations of what the board expected. They are disappointed that he is gone, but they also have ideas about the direction they want to take the team and the manager they would like to bring in. “Hopefully, winning is the direction,” Cole remarked.
“When will Ashley Cole return to the Chelsea dugout?” Someone asked Cole.
“I don’t know if you always want to return to the clubs where I have performed, but that is the constant dream. I had the chance to rejoin Frank, but things didn’t turn out the way we had hoped. With a fresh start, who knows? stated Cole.
Cole seems like a wise choice.
Cole returning to the Chelsea bench as coach would be a far worse move.
Having been called a “brilliant” coach in the past, Cole is undoubtedly knowledgeable, and his accomplishments as a player at Chelsea guarantee that he would be respected right away by the team.
With Cole’s extensive background at Chelsea, Chelsea appears to be planning to hire a younger, less experienced manager. Cole’s support in the backroom could prove beneficial.
If Cole returns to Chelsea as a coach at some point, don’t be shocked.
