Brendan Rodgers’ amazing response to Scott Brown’s Celtic red card Full reasons for the red card were finally disclosed.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has responded to Scott Brown’s ejection during a Celtic Legends game during the international break. The Celtic Legend captained a Hoops XI in the Wim Jansen Cup encounter against Feyenoord, which finished 2-1; unfortunately, Brown was sent off in the last moments of the game.

It appeared to be a perfectly timed tackle, but the Dutch official pointed to the spot, prompting a heated scolding from Brown and Barry Robson, which may have resulted in the red card being shown.

Speaking on Celtic TV, Brendan appeared to see the light side of the situation, delivering an explanation on behalf of his former captain.

“I haven’t seen why, but I’m guessing he’s still quite competitive, despite the fact that he hasn’t played in years.

“But he will never lose his competitive edge, and perhaps his approach to foreign lands was not quite the same as what they expected over there.

“But a great guy, amazing servant for Celtic and I’m glad to see he’s still got those competitive juices running through him.”

Broony was a legendary Celtic player, thanks in large part to his tough tackling and no-nonsense attitude to the game. Given that image, it was easy to forget that he was a superb player with a powerful engine, which led to his incredible career with Celtic.

Brown’s phenomenal time as a Celtic player has often led to speculation that he will one day lead the club. He is presently gaining experience at Ayr United, having previously had success with Fleetwood Town.
