With two Premier League games left in their quest for championship glory, Arsenal will next take on Manchester United in an attempt to cap off an incredible 2023–2024 campaign.
Arsenal will find out if they are the Premier League champions in less than 14 days.
To cap off a fantastic year, they have to be flawless to defeat Manchester United and Everton at the end of the season. Sadly for Mikel Arteta and company, Manchester City still has a game to play and has the ability to pass the Gunners for first place in the standings.
This coming weekend, Arsenal’s rivals will play first and look to beat Fulham to increase the pressure on Arsenal. For the side of North London that knows only victories matter now, not much changes.
The Gunners are limited to thinking about themselves and their next move, even though summer will soon arrive and that cannot be disregarded. Having said that, Mirror Football looks at some of the most recent Arsenal news.
Transfer hints
Striker Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP has made suggestions that he might leave the team after leading his team to the Portuguese championship.
Gyokeres, who left Coventry for a £17 million transfer last summer, has flourished, scoring 27 goals and dishing out 10 assists in 31 league games. The Sweden international has garnered support from a wide range of teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.
According to reports, Sporting is only willing to sell him for his €100 million (£86 million) release clause, but the forward acknowledged he couldn’t commit to staying in the capital of Portugal.
“It’s football, I can’t promise anything,” Gyokeres remarked. “I have a contract, and I’m happy if I stay, but we’ll see what happens.” We still have games this season, so we’ll see what happens next year. There’s not much we can predict.”
Concern about an injury, Takehiro Tomiyasu’s availability for Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford this weekend may be in question.
The defender at London Colney was not shown in Tuesday’s Arsenal training video. The Japan international played the full ninety minutes in Arsenal’s convincing victory over Bournemouth, but he did not appear to be practicing with his teammates ahead of Manchester United.
Despite being there for the session, Bukayo Saka had strapping across his leg. The winger sustained a cut to his shin against the Cherries, but he has continued to train despite being replaced at the Emirates as Arsenal easily won.
Before the season ends, Jurrien Timber could still be included in a matchday squad thanks to his continued progress. Despite missing out on the Bournemouth squad, the Dutchman has played minutes for the under-21 team since suffering an injury on the first day of the Premier League season.
‘Confirmed’ two targets
Arsenal is going to try to bolster their options at the back even though they have the best defense in the Premier League. According to LondonWorld, two players who were shortlisted are Jorred Hato of Ajax and Jean-Clair Todibo, a central defender for Nice, who has been “confirmed.”
Hato, 18, can play at left-back, a position that has proven problematic for the Gunners, and has been a steady star for the Dutch giants during a challenging season. The young player made his debut for the team a year ago and has since made 45 appearances this season without looking back.
Todibo, who has already been linked to Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, may present fierce competition for Arsenal. There has been talk of a £40 million fee for the Frenchman, who may leave Nice this summer.
