News regarding Newcastle United: Fabrizio Romano has revealed some critical information concerning a transfer involving a former Newcastle United striker.
Al-Hilal has terminated Aleksandar Mitrovic’s contract, and he is currently preparing a quick move to Qatar. The player, who previously played for Newcastle United and Fulham, joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023. He was one of many renowned people who left the Premier League for Saudi Arabia that summer.
Fulham paid £50 million for Mitrovic to leave Craven Cottage. Before becoming one of the league’s finest players, Mitrovic represented Serbia internationally. Mitrovic scored 28 goals in 28 Saudi Pro League games and 8 more in 10 AFC Champions League games during his first season with Al-Hilal.
During the 2024-25 season, Mitrovic scored 32 goals in all categories to help his side. Nineteen of these goals were scored in only 23 league games.

His status at Al-Hilal, on the other hand, deteriorated over the summer, and he was connected with a return to England. As Manchester United sought more attackers, they were connected with a surprise move for the 30-year-old before signing Benjamin Sesko.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed Aleksandar Mitrovic’s move.
Mitrovic’s two-year stint in Saudi Arabia has come to an end. His contract with Al-Hilal, a club controlled by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, was cancelled. Following that, Mitrovic will join Al-Rayyan in Qatar for free.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s post on X, Al-Rayyan has agreed to sign Aleksandar Mitrović from Al Hilal. Mitrović has made a permanent move to Qatar after his contract expired.
Mitrovic will play with Rodrigo, a former Leeds United striker, and will be coached by Artur Jorge, who formerly led Botafogo and Braga. He has played professionally for Partizan Belgrade, Anderlecht, Al-Hilal, and two English clubs, Newcastle United and Fulham. The Qatar Stars League club will be his sixth.
Newcastle United fans remember Mitrovic fondly, but it’s primarily because of the nice guy he was, not for the goals he scored for the Magpies. He only scored 17 goals in 72 games for the Black & Whites before enjoying a successful spell at Craven Cottage.
Mitrovic scored 12 goals in 17 games while on loan at Fulham in 2017-18. When the Cottagers returned to the Premier League, they signed him to lead the line. He scored 11 Premier League goals, which is a good result, however Fulham lost and returned to the Championship despite those goals.
To be honest, Mitrovic shone in Fulham’s Championship seasons of 2019-20 and 2021/22. He scored 26 and 43 goals, respectively, and helped his team gain promotion. He scored 14 goals in 24 Premier League games in 2022-23 before moving to Saudi Arabia for a large sum of money.
