With Napoli in Serie A, Scott McTominay is thriving, and the Partenopei supporters have given the Scotland international a new moniker.

After departing Manchester United against the will of previous manager Erik ten Hag, Scott McTominay is thriving in Italy and has taken on a new moniker.

Because McTominay’s £25.4 million transfer price was viewed by financial regulators as “pure profit,” the Red Devils were able to cash in on the academy product this summer, which helped the team balance its accounts following an expensive summer.

Ten Hag, who “didn’t want” to sell the Scotsman, was fired due to poor performance and a lack of progress following such expenditures. Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting CP, was scheduled to take over. Even though the Dutchman made mistakes at Old Trafford, it’s possible that his hesitation to transfer McTominay was justified.

McTominay, who has been dubbed “McTotally,” has adapted to Serie A like a duck to water, giving former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte outstanding performance after outstanding performance.

Ten Hag, McTominay’s former supervisor, made a telling remark about him before his exploits earned him the nickname. Following the midfielder’s sale, he told reporters, “I’m really delighted for Scott. As I mentioned when he departed, I didn’t want this, but the club had to abide by the regulations. I would even say that the regulations are horrible, but that’s how things were set up. We had to make this choice because of it.

Two months later, ‘McTotally’ has a goal and two assists under his belt. More significantly, he has been the engine of a team that is currently four points clear of champions Inter in Serie A.

His unrelenting running and remarkable abilities both on and off the ball are referenced in the nickname. According to the Daily Record, he is regarded as a player who can do it all in Italy, and his skills were clearly demonstrated during the team’s most recent game against AC Milan.

Due to Stanislav Lobotka’s injury, former Brighton and Chelsea star Billy Gilmour and McTominay were once again paired in midfield for the crucial match, and they performed admirably.

Together with former Fulham player Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, the Scottish pair made an impression in the San Siro, helping Conte’s team hold onto their 2-0 advantage from the first half till the very end.

McTominay has no regrets, but United’s management may live to regret not paying attention to their manager, who was shown the exit door last week. When McTominay first arrived in Naples, he said, “I felt the fire inside me when I found out that Napoli was interested in me. The pride of playing here is really special.”

“The supporters are insane; I would say they are some of the best fans I have ever seen, so I wanted to come here and give it my all. Amazing. I have nothing but praise for the city, the fans, the people, and the warm reception I received from my coaches and teammates.

“I want to be successful, win trophies, and win the Scudetto with Napoli.” I simply want to fight for the future, support the team, and advance my career to the fullest.”
