Breaking News: Ruben Amorim hits out at two Man Utd stars for fighting after Europa League bust-up

Following a confrontation between Rasmus Hojlund and Diogo Dalot over Hojlund’s failure to cross the ball when he was in a position to score, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim informed his players that he did not want any “fighting.”

After watching Manchester United miss the opportunity to take a Europa League last-16 lead back to Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim feels his team needs to be more merciless.

Following a confrontation between Rasmus Hojlund and Diogo Dalot over Hojlund’s failure to cross the ball when he had a chance to score, the United manager informed his players that he did not want any “fighting.”

Joshua Zirkzee gave United the lead, but they were held back after Bruno Fernandes controversially gave Real Sociedad a penalty for a handball after a VAR review.

Amorim warned his players that they need to be more clinical in the return leg next week after United wasted opportunities to win the first leg handily.

“That’s obvious,” Amorim stated. We’re creating opportunities, but occasionally we fail to shoot, so you can’t see it in the anticipated goals. But you can see that there are fantastic prospects. We experience events, transformations, and occasionally feel as though something is missing.

“That can make a difference, particularly in games like these where we need goals that have an impact. I’m only speculating that Diogo felt he had plenty of time to consider the play and was unaware that Rasmus had the upper hand.

Rasmus and Dalot performed admirably, and the decision was not the best, but it was a clear situation. The most crucial thing is to stop fighting and move forward.

Andre Onana made a number of excellent saves to keep United from losing despite Real Sociedad’s late attack. “I think the team was really tired in the last 20 minutes, so it could be better but it could be worse,” Amorim continued.

“I thought the team had the game under control until the penalty. We came quite close to scoring a second goal with the transitions after the first goal, but the penalty affected the outcome.

After missing the game-winning penalty kick in United’s FA Cup penalty shootout loss to Fulham, Zirkzee made amends by saying: “There was more in it for us.”

“We must pursue our opportunities relentlessly. We’d had enough of them. We deserved more if you consider the opportunities.
