In his most recent evaluation of Marcus Rashford’s circumstances at Old Trafford, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has not minced words, as the exiled forward is still no closer to leaving before the transfer deadline.
Marcus Rashford has been advised by Roy Keane to be “ashamed” of his banishment from Manchester United.
Rashford hasn’t played for the team since the Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen on December 12. Since then, he has publicly expressed his wish to leave the team in search of a fresh challenge, and head coach Ruben Amorim has informed him that he “has to change” in order to have any chance of staying at Old Trafford.
Rashford’s team has discussed a possible transfer with many teams this month, but no offer has been made to entice United to the bargaining table before Monday’s transfer deadline. Despite exercising with the team on Wednesday, Rashford has not been a part of recent squads and was absent once more for Thursday’s travel to Romania to play FSCB.
That came after a stint training alone at Carrington and Amorim’s scathing tirade following Sunday night’s victory over Fulham, in which he stated that he would rather have his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach on the bench than Rashford at the moment.
A irate Keane stated on the Stick to Football podcast: “I still can’t understand at any level, so I can’t get involved in the conversation.” Whatever the reason, whether it’s a player who doesn’t practice effectively, months remaining on contracts, or players quitting…I don’t comprehend it.
“You might as well avoid talking to me about this. Particularly if you believe he wants to move, which is more of an excuse to train well so you’re up to speed when you join a new club and you at least left with a respectable demeanour. He must feel embarrassed.

Wayne Rooney, the all-time record goalscorer for United, said he had witnessed Rashford exercising alone with a fitness coach in front of parents when he brought his kids to the team’s training facility in Carrington.
Marcus Rashford was out on the training pitch with the fitness coach when I walked into Carrington on Sunday to take my kids to game day, but he was right over towards where the parents were strolling past for the kids’ games, he added. As parents passed by, I thought about how awkward that must be for him.
In fact, Rooney said that he had informed Rashford that in order to revive his career, he had to quit the team.
He stated: “I’ve talked to Marcus a few times and I’ve expressed to him my opinion that he should quit the football team because, no matter what is going on in his life, he’s not the same at Manchester United. He needs to leave the club in order to start over.
