Mohamed Salah has declared that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, making it his final one in the Premier League.

With just a year remaining on his current Liverpool contract, Salah has said that he has not yet discussed his future with the team.

When asked how he spent his summer, Salah responded, “I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and to think positive because as you know it’s my last year in the club,” in an interview with Sky Sports following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over rival Manchester United.

I don’t want to think about it; I just want to enjoy it. However, I believe I’m free to play football, and we’ll see what occurs the following season.”

During the Old Trafford match, the Egyptian international was at the peak of his game. He notched two assists and scored his own goal in the second half, which was his 15th goal for Liverpool against United.

Salah increased his total for the first three games of the Premier League season to an incredible three goals and three assists, but even though he continues to look as devastating as ever, he is unsure if Liverpool would try to extend his contract.

“To be fair, I was coming to the game and I said, ‘it could be my last time,'” he later added. I’ll play my final season and see what happens at the end of the season because the club hasn’t spoken to me yet.”

And in response to a question about his “missing” Old Trafford from Sky Sports presenter David Jones, Salah said, “I don’t know with which club but it could be my last game here with Liverpool.”

The news will be heartbreaking for Liverpool supporters, who have been enamoured with the Egyptian wizard since his arrival in 2017.

Daniel Sturridge, who is also a fan favourite of the Reds, expressed similar feelings to Salah, asking the former Liverpool striker to make sure that Sunday’s game at Old Trafford is not his last with the Merseyside team.

Salah said, unconcerned, “It’s not up to me, but nobody from the club spoke to me, but we will see.”

Without a question, the Liverpool administration is in a difficult situation. As the highest paid player at the club, Salah, who turns 33 before the beginning of the next season, is sure to want another lucrative contract.

However, the winger won’t raise any money for the team if he leaves at the end of the season.

It happens less than a year after the six-time European champions allegedly turned down a massive nine-figure offer for Salah, despite strong Saudi Arabian interest.
