After defender Lisandro Martinez was carried off during the loss to Crystal Palace, Manchester United gave him their best wishes.
A harmless challenge caused Martinez’s leg to fall from under him, causing him to collapse in a heap with United behind 1-0. The Argentine was crying as he was taken away on a stretcher, indicating that the damage was severe.
Following the final whistle, United posted sincere well wishes for Martinez’s recuperation on social media. They added, “Our hearts break for you, Licha,” and included a heartbreak emoji.
“We’ll be with you during your recovery and know you’ll be back stronger.” Although the precise nature of Martinez’s injury is yet unknown, Ruben Amorim said during the game that it appears to be significant.
“We will see in the coming days, but I think it’s a serious situation,” Amorim stated in an interview with Sky Sports. A strong character in the locker room in addition to being an excellent athlete.
“Although it’s difficult for us right now, it’s time for us to support Licha, just like he does for us every day. As a gamer, you can tell when something is serious.
“Let’s hope for better days for him and we are here like I said to help him in this difficult moment.” The injury was the culmination of United’s dreadfully awful workday.
As previously stated, Martinez’s injury put United behind 1-0, but Jean-Philippe Mateta’s second goal of the game shortly before stoppage time added to the suffering.
