Senne Lammens, the goalkeeper for Royal Antwerp, was bought by Manchester United on the transfer deadline day.
Senne Lammens has been signed by Manchester United from Royal Antwerp.
Lammens has signed a five-year contract and will be acquired for £18.2 million, plus any further payments. Lammens flew to Manchester on the day of the deadline to complete his transfer, following a breakthrough in discussions.
Lammens, 23, is regarded by United officials as a talented young goalkeeper with a bright future. United considered acquiring Emiliano Martinez, but are confident that Lammens is the best option.
Ruben Amorim defended his goalkeeping options during the post-Burnley press conference. However, in the last days of the transfer window, United launched a last-ditch effort to sign Lammens to bolster that department.
This season, Altay Bayindir made blunders against Arsenal and Burnley in the Premier League. Andre Onana, who had been recalled against Grimsby Town, made a blunder that led to the team’s second goal.
To avoid Lammens sustaining an injury, Royal Antwerp omitted him from their matchday teams on multiple occasions.
Lammens, who plays for Belgium Under-21s, is a young athlete with a lot of potential. He stands 6 feet 3 inches tall. Lammens joined Royal Antwerp on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, having progressed through the youth systems of KRC Bambrugge, Dender, and Club Brugge.
In November 2023, he made his senior debut with the club. He was an understudy in 2023/2024, but he was upgraded to first choice the next season.
Last season, Lammens kept 10 clean sheets in 44 appearances across all competitions.
