This season, Patrick Dorgu, a target for Manchester United, has been a mainstay for Lecce, and the Red Devils are running out of time to finalise a deal for the young Dane.
In an effort to close a deal before the transfer window closes, Manchester United has left Patrick Dorgu out of Lecce’s roster for their Serie A matchup against Parma.
The Danish international would travel for the match, as manager Marco Giampaolo had hinted earlier in the week. However, Dorgu was not present when Lecce made their team announcement on Friday.
In preparation for a move to Old Trafford, Dorgu, 20, is anticipated to go to England this weekend. He is expected to bring in around £30 million, making him Ruben Amorim’s first acquisition since becoming United’s head coach.
Although the young player’s medical has been postponed, the Premier League team still has time to complete the transaction before United’s match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
In his pregame press conference, Giampaolo stated, “As of right now, he is a Lecce player, so he is called up and will travel for the game.” “I’ve evaluated him, so I’ll take the most sensible course of action because Lecce comes first.”
Dorgu will be missing his first game after being suspended for a goalless draw with Torino in September, which will be against Parma. A victory over Parma, who are two spots above Giampaolo’s squad, would be vital as they enter this weekend’s match just within the bottom three on goal differential.
The full-back The former full-back for Estrela da Amadora, Danilo Veiga, has been added to the team as a possible replacement for Dorgu. Tiago Gabriel, a centre-back who joined from the same Portuguese club, is also listed.
After defeating FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday, United stayed overnight in Romania. Amorim’s team is expected to return to England late on Friday as the Dorgu deal is still being worked out behind the scenes. Speaking to the media, the head coach applauded both Kobbie Mainoo and substitute left wing-back Diogo Dalot for their goals in Bucharest.
Amorim remarked, “Diogo has already had some chances in different games.” “Kobbie Mainoo moved closer to the box and played with more freedom. He can alter the game there because he is so technical. We’ll see, but I believe it’s a terrific position for him.
However, I’m glad Kobbie is having more fun with the game. I am aware that he is making an effort to defend himself, but occasionally he worries about the recovery [runs]. I’m glad that Kobbie seems to enjoy the game better today.
