Although Manchester City will likely want to use a well-thought-out transfer strategy this summer, they may be able to complete a dream deal right now with some prompt action.
Newcastle is reportedly in a desperate dash to make sure they don’t violate the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The deadline for Premier League teams to finalise transactions and make sure they haven’t lost more than £105 million will pass on Sunday, June 30.
The Magpies are rumoured to be in such severe need of cash that they have offered Anthony Gordon to Liverpool in exchange for Jarell Quansah, their defender. Although the Merseyside club turned this down, it may indicate how desperate they are.

Newcastle faces a severe point punishment similar to what happened to Everton and Nottingham Forest the previous season if they are unable to resolve this problem. Thankfully, City might gain from this.

Bruno Guimaraes, a Brazilian midfielder, is reportedly a target for the Blues to sign this summer. This preseason, defensive midfield will probably need to be strengthened because Kalvin Phillips is slated to be sold.
Guimaraes’ £100 million release clause at St. James’ Park just expired, which is said to have made Newcastle more determined to hold onto the midfield player. Eddie Howe might not have an option if selling the midfield player meant keeping the midfielder’s points from being deducted, although he would be hesitant to do so.
Furthermore, if Newcastle is forced to make a transfer because of their urgency to sell, City may find themselves with a steal. It was unexpected that Gordon would be offered out during this timeframe, thus it is also possible that Guimaraes may be offered out this weekend.
