Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has thrown his support behind Brendan Rodgers, in what many Celtic fans would regard as a rare display of respect from the Ibrox supporter.
The former Rangers striker, known for his strong opinions and allegiance, has surprised many by admitting Rodgers’ supremacy and consistency at Celtic Park. Despite Celtic’s obstacles this season, such as injuries and form drops, Boyd believes Rodgers’ expertise and winning mentality will ultimately keep the champions ahead.
The statements come amid increased anticipation regarding Muscat’s possible arrival from China. The Australian, who previously worked under Ange Postecoglou, is expected to bring a fast-paced, attacking style to Rangers. However, Boyd’s appraisal suggests that, regardless of who gets the Ibrox post, chasing Rodgers’ Celtic will be a significant challenge.
Rodgers, meanwhile, is navigating a hard season while managing domestic and European expectations. And, while Celtic fans rarely agree with Boyd, his new words demonstrate Rodgers’ widespread regard in Scottish football.
He told Sky Sports: “But I believe Rangers will improve. Will it be enough to win the league?
“Probably not, given Celtic’s current state. Brendan Rodgers understands how to get things done. He knows how to win trophies. This is going to be challenging.
“Do I expect the Rangers to improve? “Yes, I do.”
Boyd’s sentiments reflect Celtic fans who have seen Brendan Rodgers restore calm and stability to the club. Despite a difficult season, he kept the squad winning and upheld the high standards that defined his tenure.
If Kevin Muscat is appointed Rangers manager, he will face a difficult assignment, not only catching up on the pitch, but also instilling the same winning mindset that Rodgers instilled at Celtic Park.
Rodgers’ record speaks for itself: trebles, trophies, and an unwavering determination to succeed. Boyd was correct in admitting that a winning culture does not fade quickly.
Celtic supporters seldom agree with a former Rangers striker, but seeing Boyd confess that Rodgers’ side is still the team to beat will only increase their faith in the man heading them.

Unfortunately, Brendan Rodgers will be Celtic’s last “Elite” manager. The current toxicity at Celtic’s top, allegedly aided and abetted by the Chairman who has seen his dynasty destroyed by the Football Manager who got his Nepo child sacked, will ensure that no credible manager, let alone a “Elite” manager, will touch the job when Brendan Rodgers and his ambition to take Celtic to the next level are shooed out the door by Lawwell and Nicholson. The heinous Grace Brothers board will appoint a Yes Man to the newly created “Head Coach” position, ensuring that the Yes Man will follow their rule of “you get the players you are given, and any players worth a first team place will be sold instantly with replacements, when they arrive, costing no more than 20% of the departed player’s selling price.” As a result, a Yes Man like Kennedy or a failed neophyte like Maloney are the most likely candidates. Celtic fans are set to face life in the lay-by, not to mention the slow lane, as prophesied by MON after being educated by PL about what the Premier League was all about.
Sevco’s assistant manager in Scotland, Stevie N, is likely assisted by Nasty Neil McCann, who is both available and cheap. They’ll at least calm the rebelling masses till they’re fired next year!
