After leaving things late throughout the summer, Manchester United is running out of time to complete its remaining business during the winter transfer window.
Jadon Sancho, a winger for Manchester United, texted Marcus Rashford a supportive message after witnessing his old teammate sign a loan deal with Aston Villa.
Following Sancho, Rashford has completed a temporary departure from Old Trafford, albeit the latter’s move is anticipated to be permanent. At the end of the summer transfer window, Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan, and by the end of the season, they are almost certain to make a permanent deal.
Sancho was among the first people to respond to Rashford’s Instagram post confirming his Villa switch. The winger simply replied, “He’s back,” to his fellow England player.
Several additional former and current United players were also noticed in the comments section. “All the best Rash,” Alejandro Garnacho commented, followed by “Good luck my bro” from Luke Shaw and “Good luck” from Scott McTominay.
Although he had to wait until the last few days of the window to get his move, Rashford had stated in December that he desired a new challenge. Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona were also mentioned as potential suitors, but he is sticking with Villa in the Premier League.
“I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen,” wrote the 27-year-old. “Aston Villa was a simple choice for me, even if I was fortunate to have a few clubs approach me. I truly respect the team’s performance this season and the goals of the coaches.
“All I want to do is play football, and I can’t wait to start. For the remainder of the season, I wish everyone at Manchester United the greatest of luck.

Rashford hasn’t participated in senior football since December 12, when he helped United defeat Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. Villa might take a while to reach full speed, but given his circumstances, he might be called upon sooner rather than later.
Before the Saudi transfer window closed, Unai Emery’s team permitted Jhon Duran to sign a permanent contract with Al-Nassr, and Ollie Watkins, the team’s first-choice striker, played just forty-five minutes against Wolves on Saturday. Despite Arsenal’s interest, Watkins has stated that he wants to remain where he is, although it’s unclear if he will be ready for the FA Cup match against Tottenham.
After Watkins was substituted out at halftime at Molineux on Saturday, manager Emery stated, “I changed him because he was feeling a little bit of pain in his muscle.” January signing Donyell Malen came off the bench on Saturday and had a goal controversially disallowed, but Villa is light offensively due to the sale of Duran and Watkins’ possible absence. It is unclear if Rashford is already healthy enough for a lengthy run-out.
