Sami Omorodion, a striker for Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid have reached a £34.5 million agreement.
The 20-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Alaves after moving to Atletico Madrid from Granada for £5 million last summer. He left the team without ever having played a minute under Diego Simeone.
Omorodion, who scored eight goals in La Liga the previous season, has been a target for the Blues since January. It is alleged that in June, a £27.4 million bid for the striker was turned down.
The specifics of the £34.5 million deal, which The Athletic now claims has been reached, are still being worked out. Omorodion will sign a seven-year contract with the option of an additional year that would run until 2032.
Conor Gallagher is going the opposite way; he will have a medical on Thursday before joining Atletico Madrid on a five-year contract after the two sides agreed on a £36 million payment.
It’s said that Atletico’s concessions on Omorodion came about as a result of their progress in acquiring Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. A deal between Atletico and City for Alvarez might be worth up to £81.8 million.
The article further states that despite the Omorodion agreement, Chelsea and Napoli are anticipated to continue negotiating for Romelu Lukaku and Victor Osimhen.
Lukaku is itching to rejoin Antonio Conte at Napoli this summer, but Chelsea won’t lower their £38.5 million asking fee for the Belgium international, which the Serie A team is finding difficult to meet.
The Blues would like a season-long loan for Osimhen since they are still interested in the Nigerian player but aren’t ready to pay Napoli’s €100 million demand because of their FFP issues.
Trevoh Chalobah is rumoured to have drawn Crystal Palace’s attention as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi. Chelsea is apparently trying to sell youth players for pure profit in an attempt to ease their financial woes.
Newcastle’s main centre-back target is Guehi, so their interest has compelled Palace to look far and wide for a substitute.
The Telegraph reports that Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg, who has the advantage of having worked under Palace head coach Oliver Glasner in the past, and Chalobah, who was left off of Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, are “two options being given serious consideration.”
After Chelsea left him behind, Chalobah began working out with the team’s development squad. It is anticipated that he will keep working out separately from the first team while the Blues consider offers from other teams for his services.
The centre back has four years left on his Chelsea deal after turning down a transfer to Nottingham Forest last season.
Chelsea is holding out for £25 million, but the 25-year-old is “liked by a number of clubs but is yet to receive any firm offers.”
