The cost of playing edge rusher has increased significantly. Maxx Crosby, a standout for the Las Vegas Raiders, signed a new contract worth $106.5 million, of which $91.5 million is guaranteed. This post from Parsons may not be the most cryptic one we’ve seen, but it makes a statement none the less. Micah clearly wants to stay in Dallas, if the Cowboys haven’t already figured that out. He now has a goal number that he might be able to request. However, the fact that Las Vegas completed this deal earlier shows that they are making an attempt to lock in their guy. Not that Dallas doesn’t have plans for Parsons, but the Cowboys are under pressure to meet the Raiders’ new standard.
“There’s definitely a plan in place, but we’ll just see how everything plays out,” Parsons told DallasCowboys.com, expressing his willingness to share the process during free agency. “There’s been no progress yet, but I’m pretty confident that something will happen, so we’ll see.” Cowboys Nation is baffled and wondering, “What are we waiting for?” since this “plan” has been in motion for a long time. Despite missing some time last season due to injuries, the Raiders’ edge rusher nevertheless recorded 45 tackles and 7.5 sacks. Even though Parsons missed some games for Dallas last season, he still recorded more than ten sacks (12) for the fourth straight season. With a target number in sight, the Cowboys are more anxious than ever to lock down their defensive cornerstone.
