Chelsea is ready to approve the transfer of a player making £200,000 a week after new manager Enzo Maresca declared he would rather have an alternative in the position of high earner.
Players that Chelsea may sell this summer Ian Maatsen, Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, and Hakim Ziyech are the most recent players to formally leave Stamford Bridge, but there may be a large number of players that follow them out the exit.
In the first few weeks of the summer transfer window, co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have been leading the charge. They have signed contracts worth a combined £105 million for Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian, who will join up next summer.
The team has grown somewhat fat as a result of Todd Boehly’s extravagant spending since Clearlake acquired the team in 2022, therefore Chelsea will also be trying to further balance the books by releasing certain players.

Regarding Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, who are expected to compete for Maresca’s favour, there has also been some conjecture. Although there are a few candidates vying for the left-back position, some think Cucurella is a great match for Maresca’s system and would be a great asset.
As a coach, Maresca has a clear identity and is straight (forthright even) with what he expects from players. Wasn't 'satisfied', for example, when Leicester scored two counter-attack goals to beat Birmingham. Said after that game, "90% of our goals won't be counter-attacks."

Chilwell, who has briefly led Chelsea as captain while healthy, had a terrible season due to injuries. Due to hamstring, knee, and sickness issues (Transfermarkt), the Englishman missed 23 Premier League games alone. Ultimately, this prevented Chilwell from being included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.
Chelsea was ready to approve the sale of Chilwell following the Maresca ruling.
The former Leicester City player had a forgettable season; last week, TEAMtalk provided an update on his future. According to the source, Maresca has decided that Cucurella is his preferred choice for the starting left-back position, and Chelsea is willing to approve Chilwell’s sale this summer should a good offer come in.
Four years after he made the £45 million transfer from the King Power to west London, they seem to be open to offers and departure negotiations. The £200,000-per-week player has now made 106 appearances in all competitions, contributing significantly at times, and leading Chelsea to the Champions League championship in 2021.
