As Premier League teams get set to start preseason, Manchester City will get ready for the 2024–25 campaign in the following days.

With City, manager Pep Guardiola is going to aim for his seventh Premier League title as he attempts to stave off challenge from Arsenal and Liverpool once more.

Before the new campaign gets organised, we examine the most recent information and rumours pertaining to City.

Barcelona removes the post wishing the City loanee farewell.
A post wishing Joao Cancelo, a Manchester City loanee, farewell appears to have been removed by Barcelona.

Cancelo played with the La Liga powerhouses during the 2023–24 season. His loan agreement expired at the end of June, and he is expected to return to the Etihad.

However, Barcelona thanked the right-back for his season-long efforts in a statement that was put on X on Sunday, adding, “Moltes Gracies.”

Fabrizio Romano, though, asserts that Barcelona and Cancelo’s representatives have discussed a possible reunion at the Nou Camp this summer.

Cancelo hasn’t participated in a competitive match for Manchester City since 2022, and it seems the Portugal international won’t be staying at the Etihad. This is according to MEN Sport. Cancelo’s stock has fallen dramatically in recent years, despite the fact that he was formerly thought to be among Pep Guardiola’s more important players. As a result, he has spent the last 18 months on loan at Bayern Munich and Barcelona, respectively.

Cancelo has been open about his desire to return to Barcelona in recent weeks. Since a turnaround at the Etihad seems improbable, it could be better for everyone if a long-term solution is found this summer.

Chelsea genius “set to sign” with City
According to reports, Manchester City and Chelsea have agreed to sign Ryan McAidoo, a young midfield player.

Fabrizio Romano believes that after City successfully repelled interest from other Premier League teams, the 2008-born starlet will go to the Etihad this summer.

MEN Sport states: McAidoo’s signing with City this summer would be a major coup for the squad, as they have a history of producing talented young teams. City won three straight Premier League 2 titles between 2020 and 2023.

Even though McAidoo would probably start his career with the under-18 team, this is undoubtedly more positive news for the Manchester City academy’s long-term success.
