COMMENT: In the last four days of the transfer window, Arsenal ought to focus on a previous target.

Napoli cut Victor Osimhen’s price, therefore Arsenal should reevaluate a late January signing. Despite some outstanding performances this season, the Nigerian attacker, who was previously a passionate fan of the Gunners, doesn’t seem to be at the top of European clubs’ minds anymore.
Arsenal might have a chance to sign a contract with Napoli in the final four days of the transfer window after Chelsea and Manchester United were linked.
At one point, Napoli sought more than £100 million for Osimhen. The Naples team added a £108 million release clause on his contract when he signed a new one in late 2023. On his assessment, President Aurelio De Laurentiis never wavered.
Osimhen’s desire to depart last summer changed that. Despite their interest, a number of Premier League clubs were unable to finalise a deal before the transfer deadline. In the end, the 26-year-old went on loan to Galatasaray.
Osimhen has performed admirably in Turkey, just as he did in Serie A Italy. He has demonstrated the ability to perform effectively at a higher level and has scored 16 goals in 20 games.
Corriere dello Sport claims that Napoli is asking any team interested in signing Osimhen £67 million. Galatasaray has first dibs on a £62 million permanent contract. According to reports, Napoli turned down the Turkish team’s £54 million offer.
At £67 million, Arsenal should think about reviving their interest in Osimhen. It represents a significant reduction from the nine figures that De Laurentiis had previously asked.
Osimhen is at the top of his game, and the Gunners are in dire need of a new center-forward. Having scored goals for Napoli on a regular basis, he has demonstrated his ability to score goals. Being coached by Mikel Arteta offers the chance to become a genuinely exceptional striker.
This month, moves for Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak have struck the buffers. Isak won’t be sold by Newcastle, and any move for Watkins will be challenging because Aston Villa sold Jhon Duran to Al Nassr.
Villa reportedly rejected Arsenal’s £45 million offer for the England forward, meaning Arsenal would probably have to spend more than £60 million. Even though the 29-year-old has stated that the Emirates Stadium would be his “dream” destination, the Gunners appear to be hitting a brick block with his doubtful departure.
Therefore, they should put more effort into signing Osimhen and forego a move for Watkins. There are just four days left for Arteta to sign a center-forward, and the Napoli forward would be a more cost-effective addition than Watkins.
With Gabriel Jesus sidelined for the season and Kai Havertz unable to score goals, Arsenal needs to move quickly to keep their hopes of winning the Premier League alive. Their greatest chance to rekindle their conflict with leaders Liverpool is to negotiate a deal for Osimhen.
