With Mo Salah’s support, Liverpool is getting close to finalising a January loan transfer, which is anticipated to happen today.
Stefan Bajcetic, who has had a difficult time at RB Salzburg, is being considered by Liverpool for a January loan deal.
With Spanish teams Getafe and Las Palmas showing interest, the club is thinking about recalling him and possibly sending him to another team.
Bajcetic was reunited with former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders, who took over as head coach after leaving Anfield after Jurgen Klopp resigned, when he joined Salzburg on a season-long loan this summer.
But after Lijnders was fired last month, Salzburg dropped to fifth place in the Austrian Bundesliga, down from second place behind Sturm Graz the previous season.
Liverpool is looking into ways to give Bajcetic more playing time because he has only made eight starts in all competitions.
According to Marca, Getafe has joined the race, and Las Palmas has expressed interest in signing the 20-year-old on loan.
Due to Dario Essugo’s suspension and Jose Campana’s ailments, Las Palmas seems to be the front-runner for Bajcetic, who are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements.
In addition, Viti Rozada and Marvin Park’s injuries have forced Javi Munoz to step in at right-back.
Las Palmas is hopeful that Liverpool would decide that they are the best place for Bajcetic to go if they give him consistent playing time.
Las Palmas’s case might also be strengthened by the productive loan stints of players like Essugo and Fabio Silva, who have both had a big impact this season after signing from Sporting and Wolves, respectively.
However, Liverpool has the last say because Getafe is also looking for a holding midfielder.
After winning player of the month in January 2023, Mohamed Salah even declared that Bajcetic was Liverpool’s “best player” during the 2022–2023 campaign, demonstrating the great regard he has garnered at Anfield.
“He’s an exceptional player and individual, always putting in the effort,” Salah said after a win against Everton.
He has possibly been our finest player since coming on board, so I hope he keeps up his good work and confidence.
“It’s important not to let it go to your head when Salah offers such compliments,” Bajcetic said in reaction to Salah’s comments from the previous year.
It gives you more confidence for the next training session and inspires you to give it your all when you hear Klopp or players of that calibre say similar things. But I make an effort to remain realistic and continue picking up knowledge from the greatest.
