Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, isn’t a backward person.
Not taking no for an answer is a trait of the Reds’ big boss, who brought Premier League football back for the first time in 23 years.
Marinakis seems to be getting what he wants again when it comes to off-field engagements.
With Edu expected to leave Arsenal, where he may win the championship and play in the Champions League, for a position with Marinakis, the Forest owner has once again done it.
Edu may soon begin working for the Marinakis empire, and a transaction does appear to be nearing conclusion.
This one does seem a little odd, considering that Arsenal will be vying for the championship this season.
But Marinakis has made a strong case, perhaps using his checkbook, and this appointment appears to be thrilling for Forest.
Regarding Edu joining Forest, Gary Neville disagrees with Ian Wright and Roy Keane.
It appears that the football media is taking notice of this action.
Experts and pundits have been debating the matter, and it seems that some of Sky Sports’ most prominent commentators disagree.
Unexpectedly, Ian Wright, who is an Arsenal supporter, has defended Edu’s choice to join Forest.
In the most recent Stick to Football podcast episode, Keane expressed his disapproval of Neville’s inability to understand why Edu would think about leaving Arsenal for Forest.
The following is how the conversation unfolded:
Wright: “The problem is that he went to a place with Olympiacos, Rio Ave, and Forest. It’s a huge task for him.
“No, it’s not,” Neville said. That’s not acceptable to me. Getting out of Arsenal
Wright: “In terms of what he wants to do, it’s a different kind of job.” Regarding Arsenal’s attempts to win the league and the Champions League, I understand what you’re saying.
Neville: “I would be devastated if the sporting director of my club and I decided that Arsenal was a huge club and left for Forest, Olympiacos, and Rio Ave.”
“We’re not saying they’re bigger clubs,” Keane said. For him, the challenge is different. When it happened, I wasn’t all that surprised.
Neville: “I was taken aback. to go and work with Olympiacos and Forest and not finish the job and win the league. To be honest, I am discovering it to be quite peculiar.
Edu might be Forest’s most important off-field hire.
To be really honest, it’s difficult not to agree with Neville, even if you’re a Forest supporter.
With the addition of Mikel Arteta and the development of a side that appears capable of winning, Edu has completely changed Arsenal.
But it feels a little strange that Edu would now depart before anything has been won.
However, as Wright notes, Edu’s job description seems a little different under Marinakis, and it’s possible that he is eager to supervise the operations of an entire empire.
Even though he will be employed by Forest, he will still have other obligations.
From a forest perspective, this is really exciting in one way or another, and it will be interesting to see what can be accomplished under Edu.
In order to keep moving up the Premier League standings, Nottingham Forest crushed West Ham on Saturday.
Forest has been progressing slowly this season under Nuno Espirito Santo’s cautious eye, and they are now receiving their rightful compensation.
Espirito Santo must now be grateful that he stuck with the Forest head coach after Evangelos Marinakis nearly fired him twice last season.
With Edu expected to leave Arsenal for the City Ground in the upcoming weeks, Forest appears to be doing well both on and off the field right now.
The sporting director will take charge of Marinakis’ whole business, including his collaborations with Rio Ave and Olympiacos.
However, Forest is truly making an impression on the field, as the Reds’ players have once again been highlighted in the numerous Team of the Week articles.
After the concert over the weekend, Alan Shearer gushed about Murillo and other notable performers.
