BREAKING Charlton against Chelsea medical emergency forces. FA Cup tie to be stopped

Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round match against Charlton Athletic was temporarily delayed.

Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round match against Charlton Athletic was called off after only ten minutes owing to a medical problem in the crowd.

An announcement on the ground in the Valley read: “There is a medical emergency in the crowd.” We appreciate your patience.

Play was halted for around five minutes while the home supporter was treated by emergency personnel and taken out on a stretcher.

Teams from both sides knocked the ball around as the fan was treated, and play resumed in the 16th minute.

Liam Rosenior’s side got off to a good start in the game, as he took over in the technical area for the first time from Enzo Maresca the previous week.

The 41-year-old chose a formidable starting lineup for the match against the Championship side, with Moises Caicedo and Alejandro Garnacho beginning, but made several changes from the setback at Fulham.

When asked about the Blues’ greatest chances of winning a trophy this season, Rosenior replied: “Try to win every game that you play. “That is the reality.”It’s insane to start pointing fingers and claiming that one tournament is more important than another. “You must compete every day in training.”You have to attempt to win every time you train. You have to aim to win every game you play; if you think too far ahead, you will fall.

“So for me, the focus is on Charlton and putting together a run of results that will put them in a good position. But I am not thinking too far ahead. We just have to focus on the present moment.”

Chelsea are now 18 points behind league leaders Arsenal, although they remain in the Champions League and the Carabao Cup semi-finals, where they will face Arsenal in the first of two games next week.

Chelsea has only won one of their previous nine games, but Rosenior believes they can turn things around.

When asked about the run, he responded, “It was great. It’s a challenging run. This is a tough league. “We are not the only club facing challenges this season.”Each club does. Top teams, including ourselves, go through various spells and times throughout the season. Hopefully, I can contribute my own thoughts, mark, and voice. A different voice can sometimes be helpful.

“However, the players have not been far away. Manchester City’s performance in the second half was superb, and they could have won the game. For 70 minutes against Fulham, we were down to ten players. We’re in the game, in a really difficult spot to go, and we’re not far away, which is really essential for the players to know.”
